About Me

Tujali Mama are Swahili words that literally mean “Let’s take care of the mother”. It is an online platform that provides a repository of resources with the primary goal of offering psychosocial support for new mothers particularly in the first year after birth. It was started to address the mental health challenges that many new mothers across the globe experience during the immediate post-partum period and the first couple of years after delivery. The platform will also create a community of new and veteran mothers through which peer-to-peer support will be offered.

Tujali Mama was started by Grace Njeri-Otieno, a wife, a mom of three wonderful boys, an economist with more than 10 years of experience in a health economics-focused non-governmental organisation, and a wearer of many more hats. Tujali Mama was driven by Grace’s passion for maternal health and a desire to leave a long-lasting legacy in the world she lives in.

Through Tujali Mama, Grace hopes to contribute to the global Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:

  • SDG 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.
  • SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
  • SDG 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries.
  • SDG 17: Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalise the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
